"UG Says" is a collection of U.G. Krishnamurti's (1918-2007) sayings. Compiled by Arun Babani with a foreword by Mahesh Bhatt (a film personality),
the book makes the reader aware of what a human's natural state is. They have been taken from his numerous lectures.
Uppaluri Gopala Krishnamurti (popular as UG) is a philosopher who defies all classifications through his teachings. Born in Machilipatnam, Krishna district
headquarters situated on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, India, UG lost his mother seven days after his birth. He was brought up by his maternal grandfather,
who was an activist in the Theosophical Society. Thus, UG also became a member of the Theosophical Society even when he was a teenager. He was subjected to all
kinds of spiritual exercises and he earnestly sought for moksha (Beatitude or final emancipation). He wanted to know whether moksha was possible and wished to achieve
that state. He left his graduate studies (with psychology, philosophy, mysticism as optional subjects) in the middle in the University of Madras as the academic courses
could not answer his queries and concerns.
